Atlantis

So you know how everyone believes that Atlantis is buried under the sea? Some people think that the whole city itself sunk. How crazy!?!?!?! Well unlike the cartoons and documentaries over the years lead us to believe, this isn't the case. In all reality, Atlantis got hit with a massive tsunami 4,000 years ago. The city of Atlantis is believed to be located now buried in mud on the southern tip of Spain.

"In 2004, a German physicist Rainer Kuhne identified some strange features on satellite photos. Swamps at the mouth of Spain’s Guadalquivir River, northwest of Cadiz, held strange geometric shadows that some thought resembled the remains of a ringed city." - www.popsci.com

To follow up on what the German physicist found out, teams of researchers from three countries used all kinds of weird machines like ground-penetrating radars, electrical resistivity tomography, magnetometers and spectrometers to map the ground and sniff out evidence of human-built objects buried in the mud. They say they found a communal oven and evidence of canal systems buried in Spain’s Donaña National Park.

People have been looking for Atalntis since Plato first spoke of it. I remember reading about him saying it was there and then over night, it was gone. Atlantis was presumed to be near the pillars of Hercules.Scientist refer to the site as the Strait of Gibraltar. Well this finding just so happens to be just north of that place.

All this time, I've grown up with the dream to one day uncover Atlantis myself. What a bummer to find out it's buried in the mud rather than the sea!
